Mat's Utah Travels

Mat was supposed to be "editing" my posts about him before I could post them, but he's off flying an airplane and I wanted to get these pictures up. :)

A week ago, Mat and a buddy went up American Fork Canyon to Silver Lake. These are pictures from his travels!


Living in Utah does have it's advantages....where else in the world could you see a view like this?

I will miss having the mountains so close when we move. I love driving around and seeing the canyons and mountains near by.

Pilot Adventures!

The next two posts are all about Mat! :)
He's been a little busy the last week so I thought I'd share the neat pictures of his adventures!

As the school year is approaching, Mat has dove right back into flying. He has been trying to gain hours and by doing so this requires longer flights. Tuesday night, Mat flew up to West Yellowstone where Mom & Dad are for the summer working. First of all, he's wanted to fly north for the last two years, but the weather has never let him. So he's flown southward since he started flying.....except this time! Him & his instructor took a twin engine plane called, the "Twin Star" up to have dinner with Mom & Dad.

He made it home close to 11pm that night and LOVED it!

Mom Haderlie took some pictures and they turned out great!! She got this great shot of Mat and his cheesy grin....:)

It's official! I'm running the Columbia River Power Marathon!! Well, half marathon. :)

It's October 24th - just in time for my birthday! It's located in Oregon - any excuse I can to go back, I seem to do it. :)

I'll keep you all posted on the details, but wish me luck! :)

I DID IT!

Phew!

For this special holiday weekend, Mat thought it would be a great time to prove myself as a Haderlie woman. The last time we went camping was two years ago and it just happened to be that same very weekend we got engaged. So camping seemed to be the perfect idea since we both had time off.

It started out with Mat packing our backpacks and getting everything we needed together. Might I say, my husband is just amazing! :) He even had the time to pack dinner and thought of breakfast!

After driving up Diamond Fork Canyon for about an hour (which is up Spanish Fork Canyon), we parked the trailblazer at the 6th water bridge and hiked the rest of the way. The thing about this trip is that we really didn't know where we were going to be. We just went hiking until we found a good spot.

I think we found a good one. :)

After getting camp all set up, Mat took upon the responsibility of making dinner. We brought along steaks, potatoes and baked beans...I decided against the beans....sleeping in the same tent allllll night long not so good after a dinner including beans.

And I must say even breakfast was amazing!

I'll be honest, I was nervous about this trip. I have never been backpacking and Mat has been a million times. Overall, I even surprised myself by having a great time! Mat really made it seem easy as pie...even though I'm feeling it in my legs a ton today, I still think it was a fun trip!

I was still wet from crossing the creek by the time it became night, so I was FREEZING!!

Also, Mat has the hardest time keeping a straight face in any picture :).

While we were in Idaho there were numerous times that we've seen cows crossing the road, but I've never seen it while in Utah until now......
I guess that's what happens when you get into the back country!

Anyway, I thought you guys would like to see pictures from our trip! We definately are looking forward to the next one!

Found them!!

Here's a little recap of Mat's most recent fishing trip to the Bear River!

Right before Mat's trip, he got to buy a new fishing ROD! (I always call it a pole, but Mat has corrected me so many times, that I'm trying to be correct) and the picture to the left is showcasing Mat's first fish of the trip! A cute little Rainbow!

In the Haderlie family, it's tradition that the dog goes anywhere the family does. So of course for this trip, Lady Dog (Grandpa Haderlie's pup), was along for the ride!

The boys seemed to have a great time and the caught a lot of fish (or so they say with no picture proof) :)...

I see a lot of Mat in his grandpa and I'm glad that they have such a great relationship that allows them to run off and do fishing trips.
