**I'm posting the drafts that have been sitting for months until after our BIG announcement just for our personal record. This is the very beginning of our new journey. WARNING: There's a lot of information and might be borderline TMI.**
I went to bed last night starting to feel my recent exciting news was soon to end. As I was getting ready for bed, I started to realize that I was starting what felt like miscarriage symptoms.
Panic set in. I was so scared. I was cramping. There was spotting. There were tears. I was not sure how to handle everything. Luckily, my super hero of a husband said, "you need to get some rest, it might be stress induced and it also could be nothing". Running through my mind, "HOW could I rest? HOW could it be nothing? WHY is this happening?"
Mat held me for a long time until I could compose myself and realize that it would be better if I would try to get some sleep. We prayed that night that all would turn out well and that we would have peace whatever direction we would be headed. I put all of the faith and trust I could muster in Heavenly Father and truly felt that this was part of his plan.
This morning, I called the doctor's office, explained our history and the current situation. They were able to get me in right away. I was to scared to call work to tell them the situation, so I emailed them and called a sub in for the day. I just didn't want to get flustered and start crying. They all understood.
Now, just to get to the doctor. Mat had to reschedule a few flights, but was right by my side the whole way. I couldn't talk much the whole morning. I was so scared. Worried. Afraid. Sad. All of my happy and exciting emotions were gone overnight.
The doctor was compassionate and understanding. He delivered news I had not expected. I felt so unprepared. Based on the pain I was having and where it was located along with my history and other symptoms, he assumed I was experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. He ordered blood work and an ultrasound. I was immediately put on bed rest until Friday when I would go back in to review the results.
We left his office with a whole new sense of fear. The doctor wanted to prepare us for all outcomes. We were hoping that the ultrasound would show the baby in my uterus and growing. But we also had to realize that we could have an ectopic pregnancy or even the baby being in my abdomen, both of which would result in surgery.
All we can do is have faith, pray and wait until Friday, March 8th for the results.
