Telling the Family!

Once we found out that we were having twins, it was hard to contain all the excitment. My dad was going in for surgery and we wanted to make sure he knew right away, so we called him after the ultrasound when we found out we were having twins. In return, he was so excited, he was telling every nurse while we were on the phone! It was the best feeling to hear the excitement in his voice. I can't explain it.

We skyped with my mom and step-dad. We just held up an ultrasound picture and they figured it out pretty quickly. Mom of course cried and they were both excited.

For Mat's parents, we had been planning something for the last few years. We bought these frames 3 years ago, before one of our miscarriages and were so excited to finally use them. My parents have grandkids (from my sister), but Mat is the oldest in his family, so we really wanted to do something for his parents - since these would be the "first" grandkids.

First, we wrapped these two frames and ultrasound pictures in pretty gift bags. We explained that we didn't know if we would make it up for Mother's Day or Father's Day (which was not entirely true...) and that they had to open both of the gifts at the same time.

Even better, we caught it all on camera!
The last thing we handed them was our 7 1/2 week ultrasound that showed both twins side by side. It was so much fun to surprise them even though there were many tears involved!
