Back to the Ol' Stomping Grounds

Ready.
Set.
Go!

We are moving back to good ol' Idaho Falls!
This statement confuses so many since Mat's new job is in Texas...so here's the rundown.

Our first plan was for us to move to Texas...we started looking for housing, gearing up for the summer weather...and then reality set in.
Anyone who might know about being a pilot's wife knows that you are never in one place for that long. This new job is fantastic! But requires a lot of flexibility on moving from place to place - not necessarily in the same state either.

So.......for a "double pregger" (as my husband lovingly refers to me as :) ) this was not the most ideal. The number one concern we had was for the babies. I'm high risk due to the twins (and our history) which means I need to be close to a hospital at all times.

So.......while Mat can hop, skip, jump across the country, I will be staying in Idaho Falls close to Mat's parents. I'm dragging his mom to every baby related appointment, which she doesn't mind and I'm so grateful for!

I'm looking forward to being back where Mat and I first met, dated and got married. There are so many memories in this little town.

New Job!!

Mat was offered a job that would take him back to the great state of Texas!!
He'll be based in Dallas and flying a Beech99.
We're both SO excited!!
He starts training May 13th in California.

Telling the Family!

Once we found out that we were having twins, it was hard to contain all the excitment. My dad was going in for surgery and we wanted to make sure he knew right away, so we called him after the ultrasound when we found out we were having twins. In return, he was so excited, he was telling every nurse while we were on the phone! It was the best feeling to hear the excitement in his voice. I can't explain it.

We skyped with my mom and step-dad. We just held up an ultrasound picture and they figured it out pretty quickly. Mom of course cried and they were both excited.

For Mat's parents, we had been planning something for the last few years. We bought these frames 3 years ago, before one of our miscarriages and were so excited to finally use them. My parents have grandkids (from my sister), but Mat is the oldest in his family, so we really wanted to do something for his parents - since these would be the "first" grandkids.

First, we wrapped these two frames and ultrasound pictures in pretty gift bags. We explained that we didn't know if we would make it up for Mother's Day or Father's Day (which was not entirely true...) and that they had to open both of the gifts at the same time.

Even better, we caught it all on camera!
The last thing we handed them was our 7 1/2 week ultrasound that showed both twins side by side. It was so much fun to surprise them even though there were many tears involved!

Unexpected Surprise!

**I'm posting the drafts that have been sitting for months until after our BIG announcement just for our personal record. This is the very beginning of our new journey. WARNING: There's a lot of information and might be borderline TMI.**

Oh. My. Stars. I'm still in shock. I'm not sure to laugh or to cry.

We went in for our follow up ultrasound first thing this morning. I was a nervous wreck. Shaking. Trembling. I'm so glad that Mat drove us to the appointment, because I truly don't think I could have. Before we left the house, we both kneeled in prayer and knew that whatever the results were to be that they were meant to happen.

Never did we expect THIS!

TWINS!!!!
I couldn't help but start laughing. Then crying. Then laughing. Then back to crying! I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!! I was not sure if it was real or all a dream. I look over at Mat and he had the shock written all over his face! Poor guy! I didn't know if he would be able to speak!

There is another side of this story...
Ever since we were married (and even growing up) I kept saying how much I would like to have twins first. Two at once and then add a few more after that. Why not? It just seemed to be an easy enough plan.

Never did I EVER think that I would be taken THAT seriously!

We can't find wins on either side of our families and for the record, we were not on ANY fertility treatments. None. Not one. This is all due to Heavenly Father and his plan. We did NOTHING different than we had for the last 3+ years.

We can't help but stare at the picture. We have been so blessed. Both babies are doing well, we were able to see the heartbeats and both are strong. But, now that we are having TWO at once, we are on the hunt for a new doctor. Our current doctor doesn't deliver twins. Then we will go from there.

For now, we are just so grateful for such exciting news! Really, how are we going to hold this in!?
